You can prevent or correct many vision and eye problems with early detection.

A complete and comprehensive examination is a two-part process:

1) Vision: evaluation of clarity and comfort in the way you see and

2) Eye health: Assuring good eye health from the lids to the back of the eye. Periodic eye exams will enable early detection protecting your eye health.

As part of each eye health exam, Dr. Teles will examine your eyes for cataracts, glaucoma*, retinal diseases, dry eye syndrome, allergic eye disease and other eye disorders. Computerized photos of detected eye conditions allow Dr. Teles not only to detect but to also share his findings with his patient in real time. This technology provides clear explanations and a cutting edge learning experience.

Patients appreciate this way of communication because of the personalized attention they receive.

The vision examination is equally comprehensive. Good vision is more than 20/20 clear distance eyesight. Computer vision syndrome is a good example. So many computer users come in to the office with "perfect 20/20" vision but  complain of headaches, running together of code or text, eye fatigue, general fatigue, neck ache, eyes watering, etc. One can have "perfect 20/20" but still have focus fatigue and/or eye-coordination problems as part of CVS, "computer vision syndrome."  Another common example is the child with "dyslexia" or reading problems. They also frequently present with 20/20 but have vision perception issues, eye coordination or tracking problems. (See the section on Vision Therapy.)

Enjoying clear comfortable near vision while reading and computing is equally important to knowing that one's eyes are free of disease. That is why tests for dynamic focusing and eye coordination skills are administered as a part of every comprehensive exam.

Caring and testing for details of entire visual function allows for detection and recommendations that can have positive far-reaching effects on sports, reading comprehension, efficiency at one's job. Additionally, if parents are nearsighted, special tests are now available that allow early detection and treatment to prevent and/or slow up nearsightedness in young children. (See our specialty section on Vision Therapy and CRT.)

In summary, Dr. Teles uses state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to more thoroughly examine you and your family's eye health with old-fashioned personalized communication and care. Like so many of our patient's comment, " not only do I have peace of mind but I actually enjoyed myself, can you believe that?!" We can, because we also enjoy the smiling faces during and after the examination.
