+ How long will my appointment take?

All new patient appointments are scheduled for 60 to 90 minutes. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete new patient paperwork and insurance information.

+ What insurance plans do you take?

We are providers for most common Vision and Health insurance plans. Please see the complete list on our website.

+ What does my insurance cover?

For the insurance carriers that we participate with, we have full access with your permission to your benefit information. Vision plans are usually very straight forward in their benefits. However, some health insurance plans do have deductibles and require referrals. We will attempt to notify you when a payment and/or referral is necessary for you to see the doctor. The final responsibility does fall on you to be aware of all financial obligations that you may have after a visit.

+ My insurance plan only pays for one visit a year. Will I have to pay for other eye health testing?

Eye health testing can be billed to your Health Insurance carrier or the vision portion of your coverage. With the complexity of the health insurance plans available now we will bill them accordingly to minimize your cost. It will be your responsibility to pay copays and other deductibles when applicable.

+ Can I have my new prescription put into my current frames and sunglasses?

Yes, is the simple answer. Our optician will need to evaluate the quality and wear of your eyewear. There may be a repair/refurbish cost and as always we cannot be responsible for damage that may occur from normal lens insertion.

+ Can I bring in a prescription from my own doctor?

Yes, you may. We are happy to fill all prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. We even offer a remake guarantee. We will remake your lenses once at no cost to you if your doctor determines that the prescription he or she initially wrote needs to be adjusted.

+ My new frames broke and cannot be fixed. What do I do?

Don’t try to fix them yourself. No glue! We warranty, at no cost to you, all regular priced frames for a year from their purchase date. After the one year anniversary, we will do our best to replace and/or have the frames fixed at a minimal cost.

+ Can I have a mirror and other coatings put on my prescription sunglasses?

Yes, we can match nearly all colors and flash mirror coatings. We are an authorized distributor for Maui Jim and Adidas sun wear, so your prescription pair will have the same lenses as the pairs that we offer in our shop.

+ I want a specific brand of lenses. Can you order them for me?

Yes, we can. As we prefer Carl Zeiss Vision lenses and coatings, due to their unmatched quality and advanced technologies, we are independent of the corporate and big box limitations that you will find elsewhere. We have access to all major brands of lenses that include but are not limited to Crizal, Varilux, Shamir, Hoya and Unity products. Please ask and we will make it happen for you.

+ Can I drive after being dilated?

This all depends on your preference. Some people feel perfectly fine driving after dilation, while others prefer to have a driver come along with them. Driving while dilated can make headlights and stoplights appear brighter, with a halo around them, and some street signs may be difficult to read. It is important to always wear sunglasses when driving after dilation.

+ Do you do the air puff test here?

No, we do not use the air puff to test for raised eye pressure that can lead to glaucoma. Dr. Teles uses many systems that are noninvasive to eye pressure and early disease detection. See a complete list of glaucoma testing on our website.

+ Why do I have to come more than once a year for testing?

There are multiple reasons why you may have to come more than once a year for testing. Dr. Teles is concerned not just about your vision and how clearly you see, but also about your overall eye health. Patients who show suspect pathology for macular degeneration, glaucoma, or corneal problems such as dry eye, may be scheduled for follow-up visits. These visits allow Dr. Teles to establish normal, healthy baselines and monitor any potential changes.
